‘Bollywood and beyond’ 2008

July 16 to 20, 2008

The preparations for the festival in 2008 have already begun. Next year we will not only celebrate our own little anniversary: besides five years Bollywood festival in Stuttgart the 40th aniversary of the town twinning between Stuttgart and Mumbai makes the festival very special. As inherent part of the India Week, coordinated by the Honorary Counsel of the Republik of Inida for Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, the fifth Indian film festival will once again give an insight into Indian culture, society and politics throgh its wide spread programme of accompanying events.

The festival intends to explore especially the areas which often appear alien and unfamiliar to us and by these means it promotes mutual understanding. We try to encourage this aspect of cross-cultural communication by bringing togehter people from India and Germany. Therefore the festival provides the ideal framework.

The film programme is planned to be announced by the end of May / beginning of June 2008 – many confirmations can only be made after the Film Festival of Cannes.

The programme of accompanying events will be publicised as early as possible and announced in our newsletter.
